Skills Challenge

Body:

The Wicklow Allianz Cumann na mBunscol INTO Mini 7’s Skills Challenge took place in Roundwood GAA club on Wednesday 18th April.  There were players in attendance from all corners of Wicklow with schools from all across the county being represented.

The boys and girls got the chance to show off their skills and may be selected to play at a game at half time in Croke Park in the summer.  The three football skills included the solo run, fist passing for a score and the pick up and kick.  The three hurling/camogie skills included the solo run, ground strike on the run and the jab lift and strike.

Tremendous skill was on show and it is well and truly evident that Gaelic games are alive and well in Wicklow.  Congratulations to each boy and girl that were chosen to represent their school which in itself is a huge honour, they did so with great effect.  Thanks to Roundwood GAA club for their fantastic facilities on the day, to all the teachers and parents who travelled to make the event possible and lastly to all the County coaches particularly Garrett Doyle who was so supportive to Cumann na mBunscol Cill Mhantáin in organising such a great event.
