Over 100 Girls Showing Their Skills at the Allianz Camogie Day
There was a great turnout for the Allianz Camogie day on Wednesday 22nd May in The Wicklow Centre of Excellence in Ballinakill. 8 different schools were represented on the day for a feast of camogie on a bright May morning. The schools in attendance were: St Laurence’s, Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath, Gaelscoil Uí Chéadaigh, St Fergal’s, Bray, Kilcoole PS, Carnew NS, Bearna Chlé and Crossbridge NS.
Gaelscoil Uí Cheadaigh were triumphant in Division 1 with a narrow win over Crossbridge in the final. Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath emerged victorious in the Division 2 final against their neighbours St Laurence’s, Greystones.
It was great to see a range of schools from all over the county in attendance and giving the opportunity to over 100 girls to take part on the day. A huge thank you to Hugh Kenny for co-ordinating the pitches on the day and all the referees who officiated on the day. Each school played up to 4 games on the day. The games were played in great spirit and were an enjoyable watch for all spectators. There was a fantastic display of teamwork in each match. The coaching in clubs and schools is evident with the level of skill that was on display in the games. Mile buíochas to all schools for making the day an enjoyable experience for all. Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí.
