Great Day of Girls Football in Day One of the Wicklow Times Shield!

Body:

Day One of the Wicklow Times Shield took place on Thursday 6th March in Bray Emmets GAA Club. This year, there were thirty-one teams from twenty-two different schools in attendance – a brilliant turnout! The schools were St Laurence’s, St Fergal’s, Newtownmountkennedy PS, Holy Rosary Wicklow Town, St Patrick’s Wicklow Town, Scoil na Coroine Mhuire Ashford, Kilmacanogue NS, Greystones CNS, Greystones ETNS, St Patricks Bray, Kilcoole PS, Ravenswell, St Peter’s, Nuns Cross, St Brigid’s Greystones, St Kevin’s, St Coen’s, Scoil Chualann, Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath, Gaelscoil Uí Chéadaigh and Gaelscoil Chill Mhantáin.

This competitive blitz is completed over two days. The teams are split into four separate divisions with finals taking place on Day Two to decide the winners of each division and the final placings.

Teams played four matches with plenty of superb skills being demonstrated by each team. In Division One, Gaelscoil Uí Chéadaigh are leading the way closely followed by Scoil Chualann and St Patrick’s Bray. In a tightly contested Division 2, Gaelscoil Chill Mhantáin top the table after the first day, followed by Newtown 1 and Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath. In Division 3 both Greystones ETNS and Ravenswell top the group followed by Greystones CNS. In Division 4 Greystones CNS 2 are leading the group with Nuns Cross and St Fergal’s 3 chasing them closely.

Thank you to Bray Emmets GAA for hosting a fantastic day of football and to all the schools for participating. We look forward to another great day on Thursday 20th March.
