A Feast of Camogie in Ballinakill

Body:

There was a great turnout for the Allianz Camogie Day on Wednesday 30th April in the Wicklow Centre of Excellence in Ballinakill. 8 different schools were represented on the day for a feast of camogie on a sunny April day. The schools in attendance were: St Laurence’s, Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath, Gaelscoil Uí Chéadaigh, Kilcoole PS, Scoil Chualann, Our Lady’s GNS, St Joseph’s Glenealy, and St Pat’s Wicklow town.

Huge congratulations to Scoil Chualann Bray who were victors in both Division 1 and 2, and coveted the Corn de Hál and McKenna cup. The McKenna cup was presented by none other than its namesake, former Cumann na mBunscol Officer, Annemarie McKenna, who praised all the teams for their skill and sportsmanship.
It was great to see a range of schools from all over the county in attendance and giving the opportunity to over 100 girls to take part on the day. The games were played in great spirit and were an enjoyable watch for all spectators. There was a fantastic display of team work in each match. The coaching in clubs and schools is evident with the level of skill that was on display in the games.
Míle buíochas to all schools, girls, teachers and parents for making the day an enjoyable experience for all. Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí.
