Garden County Claims Two National Awards
Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Cill Mhantain came home with two national awards from the Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday night last. Wicklow came in 3rd place in the Promotion of Gaelic Games and Culture category for their Caman and Give it a Go Hurling initiative where they spent €5000 on hurleys and helmets that are circulated around primary schools to promote the playing of hurling in the county. Wicklow are to the forefront in their use of local media, through newspapers and we thank The Bray People, The Wicklow Times and The Wicklow Voice for their weekly exposure as do we thank East Coast Radio and Michael Sergeant. We also use the latest technology through our website and twitter account. This is an All-Ireland competition so it's a great achievement and honour to win these national awards. Allianz Cumann na mBunscol, Cill Mhantain were represented on the night by Jim O'Riordan, Sinead Ni Chrean Loinsigh, Dave Barry, Claire Frawley, Emer Fahy, Annemarie McKenna and Pamela McDermott.
