Autumn Hurling
For the hurling this year we had a new format. Instead of the traditional style leagues we had blitz type competitions. These were run on a league format over two days. The games were 9 a-side. Each panel had 12 players. No age limit applied. So:
In Division 1, each team played all other teams once over the two days. Division 1: St. Patrick’s, Rathdrum, Glenealy, Kilcoole, St. Cronan’s, Scoil Chualann.
In Division 2, each team played all the other teams twice over the two days. Division 2: St. Laurence’s, St. Brigid’s, St. Fergal’s
Division 1 games were played in Bray Emmet’s pitch on Wed, 21st and 28th September 2011.
Division 2 games were played in Éire Óg’s pitch Thurs, 22nd and 29th September 2011.
The competitions were a great success and the reaction to the new format was very positive. Maybe we will try it this way again next year.
All the games were really closely contested with Glenealy emerging as Division 1 winners and St Laurence’s emerging as Division 2 winners. Comhgháirdeachas. .
The standard of skill and sportsmanship was very high from all teams. Maith sibh.
Many thanks to Garrett Doyle of the Wicklow coaching team for organising the days.
Míle buíochas do gach éinne, na fóirne, na múinteoirí, na réiteoirí. Many thanks also to Liam McGraynor for all his help and to Bray Emmets and Éire Óg for the use of their pitches.
Bhí cúpla lá iontach againn go léir. Leanaigí oraibh ag iomáint.
