Kilcoole, School of the Year, Trip To Croke Park
As part of winning the Cumann na mBunscol School of the Year in Ireland Kilcoole Primary School won a trip to Croke Park. Boys and girls who are dedicated to gaelic games in the school and constantly give their time and dedication were the lucky ones selected to go. Unfortunately only 30 pupils could go and so a draw had to be made, this was difficult as there are many deserving in the school. We arrived at Croke Park and were greeted by a member of the Croke Park team, Gerry O’Meara, representing Allianz Cumann na mBunscol and the Cúl Heroes. We were brought on a tour of the stadium by our guide Martin from Co. Tyrone. The tour included a short film clip, a look at the dressing rooms and warm up areas, running down the tunnel onto the pitch and sitting in the V.I.P. area. We tried lots of the interactive games and finished our trip with a delicious lunch in one of the boxes. Aogán O’Fearghail, Uachtarán Cumann Luthchleas Gael spoke wise words to the boys and girls and gave lots of his time for photographs. He told them that as long as they were having fun with their friends and enjoying themselves that that was the most important thing. The lucky boys and girls got a treat bag each as they left. It really was a wonderful day and such a memorable trip for the boys and girls from Kilcoole.
