AGM

Body: 

The AGM of Cumann na mBunscol, Cill Mhantáin was held on Thursday last in the Parkview Hotel, Newtownmountkennedy. 

In attendance on the night was Jim O’Riordán, Annemarie McKenna, Dave Barry, Michéal Ó Murchú, Ciarán O’Neill, Sinead Ní Chrean Loinsigh, Emer Fahy, Tara Walshe, Pamela McDermott, Garrett Doyle, Dominic Leech, Tommy Brennan, Colm Gaskin and Paul Garrigan.

Cathaoirleach, Jim O’Riordan opened proceedings by welcoming Garrett Doyle, Colm Gaskin, Paul Garrigan (Coaching Officers), Dominic Leech (Ladies Football), Tommy Brennan (West Wicklow Cumann) and by giving an account of all the activities of the year.  He spoke of the new Allianz Coughlan Cup format and how successful it was particularly in allowing so many children to play.  He thanked all teachers for their hard work promoting Gaelic games in the county and the coaching officers for their help and support.  He thanked the local media – Wicklow/Bray People, Wicklow Times and East Coast Radio for coverage of Cumann na mBunscol events.  Kilcoole Primary School was congratulated on their recent National Award success. 

Dave Barry, Cisteoir gave a comprehensive report on the accounts.

Pamela McDermott highlighted the new PRO email address pro.cnmb.wicklow@gaa.ie and pleaded for any photos or reports to be sent to her so that as many schools as possible can represented and the great work that is going on can be highlighted. 

Michéal Ó Murchú reported on Cumann na mBunscol hurling activities and thanked Garrett for his help in running the very successful blitz days. 

Tommy Brennan gave a comprehensive report of the many activities going in West Wicklow. 

Garrett Doyle and Paul Garrigan spoke of their coaching and their involvement with many schools across the county. 

Colm Gaskin reported that a branch of Cumann na mBunscol is being set up in the south of the county and that they have held a successful blitz. 

Dominic Leech was congratulated on the Ladies All-Ireland success and he spoke of the many primary schools the girls had visited and of the fantastic reception they had gotten. 

Jim O’Riordan was returned as Cathaoirleach and Football Officer, Ciarán O’Neill as Rúnaí, Dave Barry as Cisteoir, Pamela McDermott as PRO, Michéal Ó Murchú as Hurling Officer, Paraic Corbett as Girls’ Football Officer and Emer Fahy was newly elected as Camogie Officer. 

Events were concluded with a presentation to Annemarie McKenna for her outstanding contribution to Cumann na mBunscol activities within the Garden County.
