Allianz Cumann na mBunscol

We’ve had an excellent programme of events in the Cumann na mBunscol calendar so far this year. 

We had the highly successful Allianz Coughlan Cup competition which was run on a new format which worked extremely well with even more schools taking part than normal.  Our hurling and camogie blitzes, both outdoor and indoor, went very well and were enjoyed by all involved. 

We launched our new fixtures booklet and had a good turnout at the AGM. 

Kilcoole Primary School was successful in winning third place in the best games promotion section of  the Cornmarket Financial Services Awards for 2011. 

In West Wicklow there has been football blitzes for boys and girls, a basketball league as well as a well attended athletics event. 

Cumann na mBunscol has also set up a branch in South Wicklow where a hurling blitz and boys and girls football blitzes have been organised. 

It is obvious from all this activity that Gaelic games are well and truly alive in all parts of the Garden County at primary school level.  We’d like to thank the County Coaches for their help in these blitzes and to all the teachers who give of their time, commitment and energy to promote Gaelic games.
