A Chance To Play in Croke Park! Skills 2022

The annual Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Wicklow Skills competition will take place in regional venues on the week beginning April 4th.   

·      North/East Skills Competition - Tuesday April 5th in Bray Emmets.

·      West Skills Competition – Wednesday April 6th in Blessington.

·      South Skills Competition – Friday April 8th in Ballinakill.

Ø  Football Skills Test @10am

Ø  Hurling/Camogie Skills Test @12pm

Please note any teachers in attendance will be required to assist the GDA’s in the marking of tests.

Please take particular notice of the age restriction regarding this event.

Age Limits for Mini 7’s: Age limits for Boys or Girls –Total enrolment of Boys only or Girls only: (3rd to 6th Classes inclusive) Children born on or after: Enrolment D.O.B

·      200+ 1st Jan. 2010

·      170 – 199 1st Dec. 2009

·      140 – 169 1st Nov. 2009

·      110 – 139 1st Oct. 2009

·      80 – 109 1st Sept. 2009

·      50 – 79 1st Aug. 2009

·      30 – 49 1st July 2009

·      0 – 29 1st June 2009

Each school is permitted to send 2 representatives per code to compete in: 

·      Gaelic Football (boys)

·      Gaelic Football (girls)

·      Hurling

·      Camogie

Each pupil will only be permitted to compete in one code.

If a child has represented Wicklow in Croke Park previously in any code they cannot take part at any level of the skills test again e.g. regional skills day, etc. 

 

The top 2 pupils in each code from each regional area will be invited to compete in the County Final Skill Tests scheduled for Wednesday April 27th in Wicklow GAA Centre of Excellence, Ballinakill. The top performing pupils in the County Skills tests will have the opportunity to represent their school and county during the half-time of selected All Ireland Semi-Final or Final games during the summer.

 

It is encouraged that each school host their own internal skills test competition to aid selection of their representatives before forwarding them to the regionals.  Skills include: Football – hand pass, solo, shooting; Hurling/Camogie – solo, ground strike on the run and strike on the run from the hand.  Schools have been emailed the details.
